Do I have to send you my passport to get a Colombia visa? Is it safe to send a passport?
Yes. You will need to send your actual passport, not a copy of it. The Colombia visa is stamped on your passport and will become one of your passport pages. Visa request cannot be processed without your original passport. Because of the importance of your passport, we strongly suggest that you send your application in a secure way, using a traceable courier such as FedEx, UPS, Express Mail or Certified Mail.

Business Important Information Business Visa
If you are planning to enter Colombia with the purpose of initiating or discussing executive level business matters more than 2 times in a 12 month period you may be required to obtain a business visa. You must directly contact the consulate for final determination on business visa requirement for your individual situation.

Sample of the Business Travel Requirements for a Colombia Visa for US Citizens
Passport
You must provide your actual signed passport, including two copies of the personal information page of your passport. Your passport must:
Be signed
Be valid for minimum of three months
Contain at least two blank visa pages, excluding endorsements pages
Not be frayed, torn, separating, or altered in some other way
You must also, is applicable, provide two copies of each passport page with previous Colombian visas.
Visa Application Form
You must provide two fully completed visa application forms. The application forms must:
Include answers for all fields
Display your full name as it appears in your passport
Be signed
Photographs
You must provide three color, passport-type photographs. The photographs must:
Be two inches by two inches
Have a white background
Have been taken within the last six months
Business Introduction Letter
A letter of introduction from your US-based company is required. Your completed introduction letter must:
Be printed on your company’s official letterhead
Display your full name, nationality, job title and the length of employment
Display your company’s US address
Specify the exactpurpose of your trip
Specify the number of entries requested and the length of each stay
Include your specific entry and exit dates
Include the validity of your requested visa
Be signed by your supervisor or your company’s Human Resources department
Be written or translated in Spanish
Invitation Letter
You must submit original and a copy of the letter of invitation. The organization you will be visiting is responsible for providing the invitation. This letter must:
Be written in Spanish
Include your name
Confirm the reason of your visit provided in your business introduction letter
Be signed and dated
Certificate of Good Standing
You must provide an original and a copy of your company's Certificate of Good Standing from the Department of State. The Certificate must:
Not be dated three months before the application date
Be legalized, also referred to as Apostille

Photocopy of All Application Materials
You must provide photocopies of all items that you submit to VisaCentral. Your photocopies must be provided along with the original version of each document. If you prefer that VisaCentral make photocopies for you, additional fees will be applied to your order. We recommend that you retain a copy of all items that you submit for your own records. Any documents that are specifically addressed to the consulate will not be returned to you.

No Visa Required
No visa is required for this destination for a stay of up to 90 days. Please keep in mind that while a visa is not required, you must:
