Revised U.S. Executive Order: New Immigration Regulations for Six Nationalities
Last week U.S. President Trump signed a new executive order that impacts travelers from six countries. Starting on March 16, 2017 travelers holding passports from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen will be barred entry to the United States for a period of no less than 90 days, unless holding a valid U.S. visa issued before January 27, 2017. Visa issuance for these six nationalities will be suspended on March 16, 2017 and they will be unable to obtain new visas to the United States for at least 90 days.

Please note that Iraqi passport holders, previously barred from entry to the U.S., will be permitted into the country but are subject to additional scrutiny at border crossings. All refugees are barred from entry for 120 days. Individuals holding Green Cards, those possessing dual nationality from a non-banned country and traveling using the non-banned passport, and diplomats from the six previously mentioned nations will be admitted into the United States. CIBT will continue to monitor this new travel policy and will notify our travelers as soon as new information or changes become available.

Potential Elimination of U.S. Visa Waiver to Europe
U.S. citizens are currently able to visit all EU nations for business, tourism, and transit without a visa under the existing waiver program. Members of the European Parliament called for the European Commission to impose visas on U.S. citizens traveling to the EU. This vote was reached due to an ongoing dispute over U.S. visa restrictions against five EU nations. The outcome of the vote has not changed the current visa waiver program for U.S. citizens. Eliminating the visa waiver program would take some time to implement. This vote was more of an advisory warning to the U.S. government to comply with previously agreed upon visa exemptions. American passport holders can still travel to the EU without a visa. The U.S. and the EU are trying to find a resolution to their visa reciprocity agreements. This is a situation that we are monitoring closely. If any changes or new developments arise, we update our travelers and kits accordingly.

Immunization – International Requirements
Many countries require travelers to show proof of International Certificates of Vaccination for a number of diseases when entering or exiting their country. In some cases, the consulate will require the certificate to be included with the traveler’s visa application. We recommend travelers check the requirements for their destination when planning their international trip. Stay informed, visit our Travel Resources page to learn more.

Six Months Passport Validity Rule
International travelers know a valid passport is required for visiting foreign countries. But did you know that with only six months validity remaining on your passport, it is of limited use? Many popular visa and non-visa destinations require a passport with at least six months validity remaining and the US State Department recommends that you renew your passport when you reach six months remaining. Don't miss out on your business trip to China or Brazil, your vacation to the Caribbean or many destinations in Europe. Airlines may not permit boarding and government officials can deny entry upon arrival. Avoid unexpected travel disruptions and uncertaintyrenew your passport today.
